Fountain Inn Captures Tree City USA Award

Looking at the Arbor Day Foundation logoSouth Carolina page on the Arbor Tree Foundation website shows that Greenville and Fountain Inn have won their prestigious Tree City USA award again, the 2nd year in a row for F.I. They are part of 29 cities across South Carolina to do so this year.

To even be considered, a community must meet their standards by having:

  1. A Tree Board or Department
  2. A Tree Care Ordinance
  3. A Community Forestry Program With an Annual Budget of at Least $2 Per Capita
  4. An Arbor Day Observance and Proclamation

If there’s any tree in South Carolina that deserves recognition though, it’s our Angel Oak Tree. At 1,500 years old, that’s something impressive to see indeed!
