Michelin N.A. awarded Ford Motor Company’s highest honor for Corporate Responsibility

Michelin North America has been awarded Ford Motor Company’s highest honor for Corporate Responsibility at the 11th Annual World Excellence Awards. Michelin is one of 36 production and non-production suppliers Ford is recognizing in 2009 for helping the company achieve superior quality, delivery, and cost performance and for initiatives that improve customer satisfaction.

The Recognition of Achievement-Corporate Responsibility award was presented to Michelin for demonstrating innovation in reducing the environmental impact of Ford’s products and for leadership in three key areas:

  1. corporate governance,
  2. human rights and working conditions, and
  3. environmental and social considerations in business.

In accepting the award, Jan Skinner, Michelin North America’s VP of global sales-passenger car and light truck original equipment tires, said,

“Michelin is committed to sustainable development and receiving recognition from Ford for our efforts is truly an honor. Ford’s broad and effective approach toward improving fuel economy and CO2 emissions demonstrates the importance they place on sustainability. Likewise, Michelin has served as an important partner to Ford in support of the collective goal to improve our eco-footprint through corporate initiatives and low rolling resistance technology.”

Ford presents three types of World Excellence Awards: Gold, Silver and Recognition of Achievement. Corporate Responsibility is one of five key initiatives Ford presents in the Recognition of Achievement award category.

The other four are:

  1. Diversity
  2. Warranty Improvement,
  3. New Customer-Focused Technology, and
  4. Community Service and Consumer Driven 6-Sigma.
