Shoeless Joe Gets His Museum, Black Sox Scandal Or Not
It’s true. “Time heals all wounds”.
When the 1st day of summer rolls around on June 21st, 2008, many baseball fans and interested on-lookers will be at 356 Field Street for the grand opening of the “Shoeless Joe Jackson Museum“.
The location, across from Fluor Field, is in the historic West End of Downtown Greenville. It’s most fitting, especially since Flour Field is home to the Greenville Drive, farm team for the Red Sox, and Shoeless Joe Jackson used to play for a similarly named team, the White Sox, back in 1919.
If Shoeless Joe’s Museum holds true to history, many attending it’s grand opening next Saturday will learn that Joe Jackson was the principal agent of an unbelievable event for back then. His betting on the outcome of the World Series, and then doing his part to make sure his team the White Sox lost, caused them later to be referred to as the Black Sox Scandal team.
